Memorial Donations in Memory of Ilse Boykin

A very special donation to the Diamond Bar Library was received recently in memory of our dear friend, Ilse Boykin. Ilse passed away earlier this year and is greatly missed. Many of her friends and family knew of her dedication and interest in the Diamond Bar Library and donated over 155 books and almost $1,000 that will be used to purchase additional children's books. The books are all popular or classic children's works, and include picture books, beginning readers, board books and chapter books. According to Library Manager Jesse Lanz, the books are so desirable that each batch that the librarians put out were all checked out within a day of going on the shelf. Each book will have a special gift plate in honor of Ilse.

Ilse and her husband, Jerry, have been active and dedicated members of the Friends of the Diamond Bar Library for almost 20 years. In that time they served on the Friends' board in many capacities, especially as treasurer. Ilse and Jerry were honored by the Friends in 2012 as the Outstanding Business of the Years. Ilse worked diligently to make every Friends' activity a success and had a positive impact on everything she did. Ilse always had a special love of her family and of books so it is especially fitting that Ilse will be remembered with appreciation by the many people who will read and enjoy the books dedicated in her honor. If you would like to participate in this memorial, please contact Library Manager Jesse Lanz at 909 861-4978.
