What is Read Together Diamond Bar?

Read Together Diamond Bar is an innovative program to unite people of all ages and backgrounds and encourage reading at the same time.

What books are available for the younger reader? Please choose an appropriate book for your children. Some suggestions: Farewell to Manzanar by Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston and Nim and the War Effort by Milly Lee.

What events/activities have been planned? Plans include interesting and informative book discussions, movies, and speakers that will correspond with the universal themes education, literacy, redemption and self-knowledge.

10/1 (Sat) @ 10:30 am - K-9 program for Children: Ever wonder what K-9 units do while on patrol? Come meet the Deputy and his K-9 partner. They have plenty of stories to tell.

10/1 (Sat) @ 2:00pm - Art Journaling Workshop: Art journal is a journal in which people combine art and words to express themselves. Art journaling is one of the ways to explore difficult emotions and discover the subconscious and unconscious mind. Through this channel people will allow themselves to deal with disappointment and to open to healing.

10/5 (Wed) @ 4:00pm - Movies Matinee (Children's program): Unjustly accused of staging a practical joke complete with ghosts, four teenagers are suspended from Coolsville High. To clear their names, they team up with a dog detective to solve the supernatural mystery.

10/8 (Sat) @ 2:00pm - Basic Pet First-Aid & CPR: Address common issues such as head-to-tail checkups, preventing emergencies, heatstroke, choking, wound care, bandaging, CPR, etc.

10/11 (Tue) @ 3:30pm - Teen Forensic Lab: The Teen Services Librarian will use a forensic and crime scene kit to conduct fun and educational science experiments with teens. Teens will learn how to stimulate DNA matching, locate and handle evidence, test for counterfeit currency, and identify fingerprints in the program.

10/12 (Wed) @ 4:00pm - All about Dogs: Art Activities for Children: Join us in our dog themed art activities. You'll have a "doggie" good time!

10/15 (Sat) @ 9:00 am-1 pm - Barktober: Sponsored by the City of Diamond Bar. Come have a howling good time! Join us in our dog Pet adoption, giveaways doggie games, contests and vendors. Also photo backdrop and, of course, treats! Additional info: 909 839-7070 or diamondbarca.gov

10/15 (Sat) @ 10:30 am - Teen Mystery Party: Participants will question suspects, examine evidence, and attempt to solve a mystery that just happened at the library. (The Teen Advisory Board will work on writing the script and acting out the plot.)

10/15 (Sat) @ 3:00pm - Laughter Yoga: Laughter yoga is a combination of deep breathing exercises from yoga and it also includes laughter exercises which oxygenates our body and brain, making us feel more healthy and energetic. If laughter can't solve your problems, it will dissolve them by changing your body chemistry and mindset so you can face them in a better way.

10/17 (Mon) @ 4:00pm - Book Discussion for Children: Title: Nubs: The True Story of a Mutt, a Marine & a Miracle
