The Wine Soirée and Benefit Auction is an annual fund raiser produced by the Diamond Bar Friends of the Library to support our library and literacy in the community. This wonderful event is now in its 24th year and will be held Sunday, April 23, 2017 from 4 to 7 pm at the Diamond Bar Center.
The Soirée provides guests the opportunity to sample wines from around the world, to savor food provided by over 15 local restaurants, to bid on exciting live, silent and book auctions and to purchase raffle tickets for over two dozen attractive prizes. The Soirée annually draws hundreds of guests, who enjoy the music and fun in the air conditioned comfort of the ballroom of the beautiful Diamond Bar Center, located at the top of Summitridge Park and with sweeping views of the San Gabriel Valley.
Each guest is provided a souvenir wine glass and is free to sample as many of the wines as they care to; likewise the food provided by our restaurant sponsors. The Soirée is not a sit-down event, rather, guests are encouraged to circulate throughout the room, nibbling and sipping amongst the silent auction tables and the wine and restaurant tables. Hightop cocktail tables are available inside the ballroom as are regular tables and chairs on the outside veranda on the west side of the Diamond Bar Center. Chairs are also available inside the ballroom, especially in front of the stage where the live auction takes place.
Water, coffee and iced teas are also provided for the enjoyment of guests. The Soirée takes place in the late afternoon and “California casual” attire is suggested, although guests will not feel out of place in a coat and tie or in jeans and aloha shirts. Comfortable shoes are highly recommended. Parking is free and the main lot is on the north side of the Diamond Bar Center, with a large overflow lot located a short distance away on the Center’s west side.
Tickets are sold at the door but guests are encouraged to purchase tickets ahead of time either online at www.dblibraryfriends.org, or in Diamond Bar at the Diamond Bar Library, the Friends’ used book store BasicallyBOOKS, Midas Auto Service Experts or Xavier’s Florist. Tickets purchased online will be mailed until one week before the Soirée, tickets purchased online after April 16th will be held at Will Call.
Guests must be 21 or older to attend the Soirée. Our reception desk volunteers may ask to see proof of age if you appear to be less than 21.
The Friends are a registered 501(c)3 tax exempt organization. All funds raised by the Soirée go to the support of the library and literacy in the community. All Soirée staff are volunteers (and each also purchases a ticket) and all auction items are donated, as are all the beverages and food provided. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the Soirée, and to please be as generous as you can!
